Small, fast and powered entirely by renewables. Iceland is the quickest Nordic market to get a decision in - and the least forgiving of a bad reference. Here’s how it really works.
Iceland is the smallest market we cover and one of the quickest to move in. Four hundred thousand people, effectively one city, and a business community where the person who signs will usually take your call themselves. Cheap renewable energy shapes what gets built here; scale shapes how you should price and pitch.
Iceland is tiny, wealthy and unusually fast-moving. With around 400,000 people and two-thirds of them in the capital region, the entire commercial market is a handful of buildings in Reykjavík - and almost everyone in your category knows each other. Energy is effectively 100% renewable and very cheap by European standards, which shapes the whole economy: aluminium smelting, data centres, greenhouses and heavy industry all sit on top of geothermal and hydro power.
The flip side of scale is speed. Decisions can move from first call to signature in weeks because there are fewer layers to clear - but references are everything, and one bad deployment becomes common knowledge quickly. Fisheries, tourism, energy and a small but sophisticated tech sector are where B2B budgets live.
